Common Ground Country Fair

If you're planning a September family outing in Maine, don't miss the Common Ground Country Fair. This celebration of rural living offers something for everyone, in a traditionally festive atmosphere. Fairgoers can visit farmers and their livestock, eat delicious, Maine-grown, organic foods, enjoy music and entertainment, learn basic gardening skills and see vendors of Maine-made crafts, folk arts, food, plants, agricultural tools and environmentally friendly living items. A visitor couldn't possibly do, or even see, everything at the Fair, but would be exposed to many possibilities. The Common Ground Country Fair blends the best of traditional and modern-day living in Maine, and shows Fairgoers how they easily can incorporate sustainable living practices into their own daily routines. The Fair goes on rain or shine. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. each day. On Friday and Saturday booths stay open until 6:00 p.m., and evening entertainment begins at 7 p.m. The Fair closes at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. MOFGA's new home is located on the Crosby Brook Road in the town of Unity. The Crosby Brook Road is a horseshoe road that begins and ends on Route 220.

Happy Birthday to the Green Store!

The Green Store becomes a teenager in 2006! From its beginning in 1993, what a long way we have come! With hardly any business experience but a boatload of enthusiasm and ideals, four back-to-the-land transplants conceived and birthed the Green Store. We opened our doors the day after Thanksgiving, and were bowled over by the support of our community. By the first summer, we had learned a little more, and in came the folks "from away". "We've never seen anything like this!" "What smells so good in here?" "This is not shopping- this is an education!" People told their friends, and they came again and again. We hope you will visit us, too!

Early Bird Sale in Belfast

Once a year, downtown Belfast turns on the lights and opens its doors at an absurdly early hour! The Green Store takes part in the Early Bird Sale, opening up at 6 AM. Everything in the store, excluding single items ticketed at more than $200, is discounted 20% from 6-7AM, 15% from 7-8, and 10% from 8-9. Best of all, you get to see the Green Store staff in their pajamas, and have a cup of joe and a Munchkin on us! It's our way of saying, "Thanks for your patronage all year!"
